Roy Wickline walked into a mattress factory
at the age of 24, looking for a job. However, finding employment
during the Great Depression was nearly impossible. Unless you were
willing to work for free.
To prove his worth, Roy began handcrafting Van
Vorst mattresses without pay. From this humble beginning, he took
the knowledge he had acquired at one of the most respected independent
bedding companies and ventured out to start The Wickline Bedding
Company.
The Wickline Bedding Company started handcrafting
mattresses in San Diego, California in 1949. Wickline quickly became
a pioneer in the bedding industry helping lead the way in innovative
product designs. Designs that would provide firm support, lasting
comfort and outstanding performance.
Fifty years later, Wickline Bedding continues
to bear the name of its founder. Although many things have changed
in the last fifty years, one thing will always remain the same:
Wickline's dedication to making the finest quality sleep sets.
Many of the craftsmen who help hand assemble Wickline mattresses
and boxsprings have been with the company for four decades. Their
skills have certified Wickline Bedding to be noted as one of the
most esteemed bedding companies in America.
When Roy Wickline founded the Wickline Bedding
company in 1949, he set high standards for himself and the company
that carried his name. His goal was to build sleep sets of the
finest quality and craftsmanship, and to provide his customers
with personalized service that was second to none.
Today, that tradition continues. Since Ray Malkiewicz
purchased the Wickline Bedding Company in the late seventies,
the 35 year mattress veteran has exceeded
those high standards. Wickline quickly became a pioneer in the bedding
industry leading the way with innovations to improve
the quality of your sleep... innovative
product designs that provide consistent comfort, firm support and laboratory
tested system performance. Tests show that Wickline’s Sleep Therapy
mattress sets hold their firmness and responsive resilience longer than
those mass produced
by leading mattress brands.
As a leading innovator
within the bedding industry, Wickline is consistently
reviewing new technologies to enhance
sleep. We continue to hand produce our bedding the same
way we have since
1959... piece by piece, with precision and care. Wickline
Bedding is considered the “first family of the bedding industry.” Ray’s
son’s Michael, Mark and Jim Malkiewicz, along with son-in-law
Tony Colantono continue to build the finest sleep sets in
America.
Quality
The Quality of Wickline Bedding starts with its components. We use Everflex™ Bonnell,
DuraFlex™ High Profile Offset, and Superlastic™ Continuous Coil
innersprings. Double heat tempered wire, and heavy gauge steel help increase
support and comfort life on all Wickline sleep products. Premium cushioning
materials such as Thermalux™ foam, memory foam, wool, silk, and cashmere
add to the luxurious feel throughout our line. Each bed is then created
through a process that blends state of the art technology with good old-fashion
hand
craftsmanship. Years of testing and research have given Wickline Bedding
the experience and knowledge to create the finest bedding possible, at
the best
price.

Where
sleep becomes therapy
Doctors know that good
health depends on the quality of sleep, and the quality
of sleep is directly related to the sleep surface. Good health
also depends on getting the right kind of sleep.
Scientists and sleep specialists have discovered two basic
types of sleep: REM and non-REM. Dreaming occurs during
REM sleep, and non-REM includes light
and deep stages of sleep. Both are essential for good health. But the deepest,
most restorative sleep occurs during non-REM Delta sleep. Delta sleep allows
the body and mind to rest and recuperate. As we age, Delta sleep decreases,
and we move up to 40 times or more each night. With couples, sleep interruptions
double. A sleep surface that optimizes comfort and support is the best
way to prolong and improve the quality of sleep.
At Wickline, we know we’re in the business of providing a good night’s
sleep. We take this approach with all our bedding sets... blending premium
quality layering materials that provide proper spine support as well as
minimize pressure points.
The result is a great night’s sleep, night after night, and enthusiastic
endorsements from leading pros in the fields of orthopedics, chiropractic and
physical therapy. And our premium sleep sets have been recognized by a leading
consumer magazine for their quality and ability to provide a good night’s
sleep.
